Hold onto your hats, boxing fans, because the drama is just heating up! Following his impressive victory, Devin Haney and his father/trainer, Bill Haney, are riding high. Haney, now a three-division world champion after a dominant performance against Brian Norman Jr., is basking in the glory of his recent win. He showcased his boxing prowess, outmaneuvering the hard-hitting Norman and handing him the first loss of his career. This victory seemed to erase any doubts lingering from his previous bouts against Ryan Garcia and Arnold Barboza.
And this is where things get interesting... Bill Haney, never one to shy away from a challenge, wasted no time in calling out one of the biggest names in the sport. In a video with Fight Hub TV, Bill Haney had a message for Gervonta Davis and his team. He offered 'Tank' a shot at his son's newly acquired WBO welterweight title next year.
Bill Haney playfully remarked, "Coach Calvin [Ford], Coach [Ellis], Team Tank Davis, I got some good news and I got some bad news. The good news is Devin bought me another Mercedes. Another one. The bad news is the Grinch didn’t buy you guys one, but ‘Deebo’ is looking for him and he’s on the list. So let’s see if in 2026 you can’t influence your man to be more like [Devin].”
But here's where it gets controversial... Davis, currently holding the WBA lightweight title, could potentially move up 12 pounds to 147 pounds to face Haney. This wouldn't be as far-fetched as it seems, considering Davis was previously slated to fight cruiserweight star Jake Paul before the bout was canceled.
However, it seems Haney isn't currently on Davis's radar. Davis recently announced his preference for a rematch with Isaac Cruz.
What do you think? Will Gervonta Davis take the challenge and step into the ring with Devin Haney? Or is this just another boxing power play? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
